Aneja General Store (Regd.)

Our shop, Aneja General Store, is a bit of a landmark for people who live around Chowk Girja Ghar in Chaura Bazar. It is a registered business, but it still feels like the same old-fashioned store it has always been. The bazaar is always packed with shoppers and vendors, and the noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We sell almost everything you could need for your home, from pulses and rice to cleaning supplies and snacks. The shelves are narrow and go all the way up to the ceiling, so we often have to use a ladder to get things down for people. It is a family-run place, and you will usually find one of us sitting behind the counter from early morning until we close up at night. We don't have a computer system for billing; we still use our notebooks to keep track of things. People like coming here because they know us by name and we know what they usually buy. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the shop that people have to wait outside on the pavement, but nobody seems to mind the wait. We have been part of this market for so long that we can't imagine being anywhere else. It is a bit chaotic, but that is just the way Chaura Bazar is. We hope to stay here for many more years serving the local families.
