Abhinav Karyana Stores

Hargobind Nagar is where we spend most of our time at 10109/A. It’s just Abhinav Karyana Stores, nothing too fancy. We open the shutters pretty early when the air is still cool before the sun gets too high. The floor usually needs a good sweep because dust from the road finds its way in no matter what we do. People come in for lentils, soap, or maybe just a packet of biscuits for their tea. It gets busy in the evenings when folks are heading back home from work. My hands are usually a bit stained from handling sacks of flour or sugar. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy, and I spend an hour looking for where a specific box of spices went. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a clicking noise every third rotation, but it keeps us from melting in the May heat. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the neighbors know us by name. It isn’t a massive supermarket, just a place with shelves full of stuff people need every day. I try to keep the ledger updated, though sometimes I fall behind by a day or two when the tea stall next door brings over a hot cup and we start talking about the weather or the news. It's just a regular life here, selling things and making sure the jars stay full.
