A One General Store

A One General Store sits on Bindraban Road in the Civil Lines area of Ludhiana. We are right across from the Fouji Gun House and quite close to the Shiv Mandir. Because of the temple, we get a lot of people stopping by after their prayers to pick up things for their homes. Ludhiana can get very cold in the winter, so I usually have a small heater tucked under the counter to keep my feet warm. The shop is filled with all the usual stuff you’d expect—shampoos, snacks, grains, and household cleaners. I’ve lived in Ludhiana my whole life and I like the bustle of this road. It is always busy with people going to work or heading to the temple. I try to keep the glass jars at the front filled with different kinds of sweets for the children. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit mixed up, but I usually know where everything is. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows where we are. I don't really have a big philosophy about running a business. I just open up in the morning, talk to the customers, and make sure they get what they came for. It is a simple way to spend the day. My son comes by sometimes to help me move the heavy sacks of flour. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep things moving.
