Our place, Vasco Maritime Career Institute Private Limited, is tucked away at H No Sp 20 in Sector C, Chetan Vihar, Aliganj. Being here in Lucknow, we focus on helping people get started with careers at sea. It’s a bit of a specific field, and there is a lot to learn before anyone ever sets foot on a ship. Our office is a practical space where we go over the training and what life is like in the maritime industry. It’s not always easy work, and we make sure people understand that from the start. We aren't interested in making it sound like a vacation. We’ve got some experience in the field, so we just share what we know. The neighborhood in Aliganj is pretty quiet, which helps when we are trying to explain the technical stuff. We have posters of ships and old charts on the walls to help illustrate things better. Sometimes the humidity makes the training manuals a bit curly at the edges, but the information inside is still good. We aren't some big corporate training center with thousands of people. It’s more personal here. We know the names of the folks who come through our doors. We usually end up talking about the weather or the local tea shop while we wait for the next session. We just want to make sure they are prepared for the exams and the work ahead. It’s a steady job for us and a big step for them.
