We are based in Ghazipur, and if you walk into our place, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of electronics and the sound of a few dozen cooling fans running at once. Nwihnnew Way Institute Of Hardware And Networking is a bit of a long name for a business, but we just call it the institute around here. The rooms are filled with old monitors, dismantled CPU towers, and coils of blue ethernet cables tangled in the corners. I spend most of my time showing people how to slot RAM into motherboards or how to crimp a connector without breaking the plastic clip. Ghazipur gets quite busy during the day, so there’s always noise coming in from the street while we are trying to concentrate on a motherboard. The tables are a bit scratched up from all the tools and screwdrivers, but they work fine for what we do. We have these stools that aren't the most comfortable in the world, but nobody seems to mind when they are busy trying to figure out why a power supply isn't working. I usually have a screwdriver tucked in my pocket and grease on my fingers by lunchtime. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It’s just a practical space where we deal with hardware every day. Some days we are troubleshooting network switches until the lights go out. It’s messy, it’s loud, and there’s always something broken that needs fixing. That is just how the days go here.
