Haritika Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of 109A in Patahagori, which is just a short trip from the Bamhori Kala post office in Lalitpur. This part of the country can be quite dry, and the soil is often stubborn, so we have to work twice as hard to get anything to grow. We started this group because it was getting too expensive for one person to buy everything they needed. Now, we pool our resources and hope for the best when the season changes. The building we use isn't much to look at, just a practical space where we store some supplies and meet up to discuss the market prices. Sometimes the rains don't come when they should, and everyone gets a bit tense, but that's just farming for you. We don't use big words or have complicated strategies. We just look at the plants and see what they need. Most of us have been living in Lalitpur our whole lives, so we know every corner of these fields. It is a lot of walking and a lot of heavy lifting, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We just want to keep the farms running and make sure the next generation has something to work with. It's a quiet sort of life, punctuated by the sound of tractor engines and the local birds that follow the plows through the dirt.
