Hotel Kgn

Hotel Kgn sits right on the Bhachau Gandhidham Highway Road. It’s a dry, dusty stretch of Kutch, and we are right opposite the petrol pump in Bhachau. Most of the time, the air is thick with the sound of heavy trucks moving goods toward the port. We see a lot of drivers and people who are moving their families across the state. The building is a simple concrete structure that gets very hot in the summer sun. We spend a lot of time under the shade of the porch when things are slow. There is a lot of dust that blows in from the highway, so we are always dusting the furniture in the lobby. We don't have any of those fancy decorations you see in the city hotels. It’s just a counter, some ledgers, and the room keys hanging on the wall. The rooms are straightforward with hard beds and maybe a small mirror. We don’t offer any big meals, but there are dhabas nearby where the food is decent. Our water comes from a tank, and we have to be careful with it because it’s Kutch and water is precious. We’ve been here for a while, watching the highway change and the traffic get heavier every year. It’s a stop for people who are tired of driving and just need to close their eyes for a few hours before heading back out on the road. We usually keep some cold water bottles in the fridge for the weary travelers.
