Max Bricks

We set up Max Bricks out here in Kanampatti Village, which is part of Uthangarai. It is quiet out here compared to the city, which suits us just fine. Most of the folks working here are from the village itself. We know each other’s families, so the atmosphere is pretty relaxed even when the work is heavy. We make bricks the old way mostly. There is a lot of digging and mixing involved. Your hands get calloused and your back gets sore, but you feel like you have done something at the end of the day. We have a lot of space in the yard for drying, which is a blessing. Sometimes cows from the neighboring farms wander in, and we have to shoo them away so they do not step on the wet bricks. That is just village life for you. We do not have a big sign or anything. Most people just know to come down the dirt road to find us. We supply to local builders who are putting up walls or small houses. It is not a fast-paced business. We take our time to make sure the bricks will not crumble. If a batch is bad, we do not sell it, we just break it down and start over. It is better to be honest about it. We have been here for a few years and hope to stay for many more. It is a good life for us in the village.
