Jaya Hollow Bricks

You can find us at number 55 on the Dharmapuri Thirupathur Main Road in Mathur. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always noise from the buses going past. We’ve been making hollow bricks here for a while. The setup is pretty simple. We have the press and the drying area out back. The sun does most of the work for us during the day. We wake up early to beat the heat, usually starting before the sun is even fully up. It gets really warm by noon, so we try to get the heavy molding done in the morning hours. The stacks of bricks grow pretty tall along the fence line. Sometimes kids from the village stop by to watch the machines. We have a small desk in the corner of the shed where we keep the receipts and the tea kettle. Tea is important around here, especially around 10:00 AM. We don't have many employees, just a few local guys who know how to handle the mix. It's honest work. Your clothes get stained with the red dirt and the cement, but it’s fine. We don’t mind the grime. We sell mostly to people building small houses or walls in the area. They bring their trailers, and we help them load up. It’s a lot of physical effort, but seeing a finished stack ready to go feels good for us.
