Gokul Industries

Our workshop is at No. 164 on Bedarapalli Road. If you know where the Brooke Bond Compound is, we are just behind it in Kamarajar Nagar. This part of Chinna Elasagiri in Sipcot - 1 is very industrial. Gokul Industries has been part of this landscape for a good chunk of time. We’re surrounded by other factories and warehouses, so there’s always a hum of industry in the air. The building is a simple structure with a high tin roof that rings when it rains. We do a lot of manufacturing work here, mostly stuff that people don't see but is necessary for other businesses to run. It’s often sweaty work, especially in the afternoons. We don’t have air conditioning, just some big fans that move the hot air around. We keep a ledger of all the raw materials coming in and the finished products going out. Most of our workers live nearby, so we’ve become a bit of a community over the years. We don't have a fancy reception area or anyone to answer the phones with a script. You usually have to yell a bit over the machines if you want to be heard. We’ve had the same neighbors for years and we all look out for each other. It’s not the kind of place you see in a brochure, but it’s where we spend most of our waking hours. We just focus on getting the daily quota done and heading home.
