Thanmiya School

You can find us in Erattupetta, specifically in the Nadackal area of Kottayam. The school sits in a spot that gets quite green when it rains. It is a local place. Most of the people working here grew up in the surrounding villages. We have the usual classrooms and a small office where we keep the registers. The desks have seen better days, with some marks from years of use, but they still serve the purpose. Every morning the buses bring kids from all over the area. It gets a bit noisy during the lunch hour when everyone is outside. We don't have those big fancy buildings you see in the cities. It is just a practical space for learning. We keep a close eye on the gate to make sure the little ones don't wander off. The staff room is often full of tea cups and half-corrected homework piles. We do our best to keep things running on time, though the monsoon sometimes messes up the schedule. The playground gets a bit muddy then. We have a few trees that give good shade during the hotter months. It is a simple life here at the school. We see the kids grow up from small children to teenagers. It is just a regular part of the neighborhood. People stop by to chat or ask about their kids. We are just here doing our job every day.
