Public College

Public College is situated on Park Lane Road, right near the Pious Xth Hostel here in Kottayam. If you know the area, you know it’s a fairly central spot. Being in Kerala, we deal with a lot of rain, so the building usually has that damp, earthy smell during the monsoon months. We aren't a huge institution with thousands of people, which is actually kind of nice because everyone tends to know everyone else’s face. The walk from the main road isn't too long, but it can get muddy. Inside, the rooms are simple. We have wooden desks that have been around for years and large windows to let the breeze in since it gets quite humid. Our daily routine is mostly about keeping the lectures on track and making sure the library books are returned on time. The administrative office is always full of stacks of paper and the sound of an old fan clicking away. It’s a practical place for students who live around Kerala 686001. We don’t have a shiny cafeteria or anything like that, but there are plenty of spots nearby to grab a snack. It’s a bit of an older setup, and sometimes the plumbing acts up, but we manage. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the students have what they need to pass their exams. It’s a steady, no-nonsense environment for anyone looking to learn.
