Anshul Stone Industry

Down in Ramganj Mandi at Mayla Bazar Number 1, I run Anshul Stone Industry. This area is famous for its stone, so it made sense to set up here. We deal with various types of stone slabs that are used for flooring and construction. It’s a dusty job, and there’s always the sound of cutting or loading happening nearby. My office is a small cabin right on the edge of the yard where we keep the stock. I spend most of my time checking the quality of the stones that come in and making sure they are packed properly for transport. The sun can get really hot out here in the open, so we all wear hats or scarves to stay covered. It’s hard physical work for the guys in the yard, and I’m out there with them quite a bit. We don't have a fancy showroom; people just come and look at the slabs stacked up. I’ve been doing this for several years now, following in the footsteps of others in this town. It’s an honest way to make a living, dealing with something solid like stone. The trucks come and go all day, kicking up dust, but that’s just how life is in the stone business here. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them on the spot to keep things moving. It’s a rough environment but we get the work done.
