West Bengal Agro Textile Corporation Ltd.

Working at West Bengal Agro Textile Corporation is interesting because we’re all the way up on the 19th floor. Room No. 11 at 33-A, J.N. Road is where you’ll find us. The view is actually pretty great, though most of the time we’re too busy with paperwork to look out the window. We deal with textiles that are used in farming and agriculture. Think of things like jute bags for grain or nets and stuff like that. It’s a specific niche. Being a corporation means there are a lot of rules and forms to fill out. Sometimes it feels like we spend more time on files than on the actual products. The building is one of those big ones on J.N. Road where everyone is always in a hurry to get into the elevator. If you miss your turn, you’re waiting a long time. Our office is a bit cramped because we have so many records and samples of different weaves. We work with a lot of different suppliers and government departments. It can get pretty stressful when there’s a deadline or a shipment is stuck somewhere. We don't have fancy furniture or a big lobby. It’s just a place where we come to work and try to get the agro-textile business moving. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure everyone is on the same page, which is harder than it sounds. We just keep at it every day.
