Voltas

Working up here in Kurseong is quite different from being down in the plains. Our place is at Bhandari Cottage on P.B. Road. It’s a beautiful part of the Darjeeling district, even if the mist rolls in and makes everything a bit damp. We have been here for a long time, serving the local hill community. The pace of life is a bit slower, but we still have plenty of work to do. We mostly look after the local homes and some of the small hotels that need help with their systems. Being on the main road means we see all the tourists going by, but our real business comes from the people who live here year-round. It’s not a fancy shop. It’s a sturdy old building that has seen a lot of winters. We don't have a big marketing budget or a team of people in suits. It’s just us, some tools, and a lot of tea to keep us warm while we work. Sometimes getting parts up the hill takes a bit of time because of the roads, but we manage. We like the quiet mornings before the traffic starts. People know they can just stop by Bhandari Cottage if they have a problem. We don’t make big promises, we just try to be helpful and get the job done right so people can get back to their lives. It is just the way we have always done things here in the hills.
