Ukil Engineering Products Pvt Ltd is over on Kalicharan Dutta Road at number 5/1. We are right near Vidya Bharati School, so we get to hear the school bells and the noise of the kids twice a day. Our place is basically an engineering hub where we keep all sorts of products and parts. It’s not the cleanest place because of all the metal and oil, but that is to be expected in this line of work. We’ve been here for many years and the building has seen better days, I suppose. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a solid workspace where we get things done. The road outside can be quite narrow, so when we have big deliveries, it gets a bit tricky with the traffic. We usually have a lot of tea and talk about the different orders we have to get out. It’s a family-run feel and we don't bother with fancy titles or anything. Most of our customers are other local businesses who have known us for a long time. We just focus on the engineering side of things and try to keep our machines in good shape. Some days are long, especially when we are trying to meet a deadline, but we don't mind the hard work. It is just what we do here on Kalicharan Dutta Road. We like the local vibe of the area and the people who work here.
