J. K. Mechanical Tools Co. is located at 139/4/3 on N.S. Road. It’s a very busy street with a lot of traffic and people walking by all day long. Our shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. We have tools of all shapes and sizes hanging on the walls and stacked in bins. It’s the kind of place where you have to move a box to get to another box. We deal with mechanical tools for all sorts of repairs and construction. Most of our customers are locals or workers who need something specific for a job they are doing nearby. We spend a lot of time sorting through inventory and making sure we haven't run out of the basics like wrenches or drill bits. The air always smells a bit like metal and old cardboard. It can get pretty hot in the summer because we are right on the street, but we keep the fans going. There’s no big corporate vibe here; it’s just us and the tools. We’ve got a small counter where we do the sales and it’s usually covered in catalogs and loose notes. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are and come in when they need something. It’s a straightforward way to run a business and it has worked for us for years. We just keep things moving and help the folks who walk in.
