If you find yourself on M. G. Road, look for Paras Exim at 171/1 on the 2nd floor. That’s where Vijay Kumar Jain operates the business every day. Being on M. G. Road means we are always surrounded by the chaos and noise of the city center. The traffic sounds never really stop, even when we are inside with the windows shut. The second floor is a bit of a relief from the street level, though. We’ve got a small setup here that works for us. It’s mostly just desks, chairs, and a lot of paper stacked in corners. We handle things as they come. There isn't a rigid schedule; we just deal with whatever the day brings. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour, and we just sit and talk or have a snack until it comes back on. It’s a very traditional way of working. We don't have big signs or neon lights to attract attention. People find us through word of mouth mostly. We’ve been here for a long time, so we know all the other shop owners and the guys who deliver the mail. It’s a tight space, and we are often bumping into each other when we move around, but we get the work done. We don't put on any airs about being a big corporation. We are just a local business trying to make a living on a busy road. It gets really stuffy in the summer, but we keep the fans going.
