Our office is located on the second floor of the Sikkim Commercial House. If you know Middleton Street, it is right there at number 4/1. It is one of those older buildings in the city with a lot of character and high ceilings. We handle the import side of things here at Excel Import. Most of the day for us involves being on the phone or looking at various shipping papers and invoices. The office has large windows that look out onto the street below. It gets a bit dusty because of all the traffic outside, but we like being in this location. It is central and pretty easy for people to find us when they need to. We have a few desks pushed together and some metal filing cabinets that have definitely seen better days. There is a small area in the back where we keep the kettle for making tea in the afternoon. We are not a huge corporation, just a dedicated group of people trying to keep track of shipping containers and arrival schedules. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up and stops working, so we just take the stairs instead. It is good exercise for us anyway. We have been here long enough that we know the other tenants in the building. It is a professional environment but the vibe is relaxed. We do not usually wear suits. We stay late some nights when shipments get delayed. That is just how this business works.
