Unique Traders, Kolkata

Our place is on Strand Road in Kolkata, specifically Suit No. 20 on the first floor of 67/44. If you know Strand Road, you know how hectic it gets with all the trading and the river nearby. Unique Traders, Kolkata is just our small operation here. We deal with all sorts of things, buying and selling whatever is in demand at the time. The building is old, like most of the ones around here, and the stairs are a bit narrow to climb. The office is full of samples and old ledgers from years back. It feels like a real Kolkata trading house. We don't have a big fancy lobby. You just walk in and someone will be there at a desk covered in papers and folders. We spend a lot of time on the phone with people from the port or other traders in the city. It’s a lot of haggling and checking prices. The noise from the street is always there, but we don't even hear it anymore. We’ve been here for years. We aren't a big corporation with different departments. We’re just a few people who know the local market well. Sometimes we have a lot of work and sometimes we just sit and watch the rain over the river. It’s a practical life. We don’t use a lot of marketing talk. We just do the business, shake hands, and move on to the next deal.
