Tupur Mallik

I have my space at 78 Bidhan Sarani in Kolkata. The zip code is 700006. If you know Kolkata, you know that Bidhan Sarani is one of those old, busy streets that never really sleeps. There is always a lot of noise from the trams and the buses going by. My name is Tupur Mallik and this is where I do my work. It isn't a massive office with glass walls or anything. It’s a bit cramped actually. There are piles of books and folders everywhere because I don't always get around to filing things properly. The walls are a bit faded but I like the character of the building. It has been around for a long time. I spend most of my day here. Sometimes I go down to get some jhalmuri or a cup of tea from the vendor at the corner. Working in this part of Kolkata feels very traditional. I have a wooden desk that has been with me for years. It’s got scratches on it but it works fine. People stop by to talk about various things. It is not a very formal environment. I don't really use fancy language or have a big staff. It is just me at this address. Some days are slow and I just watch the rain through the window. Other days are a bit more hectic with people coming in and out. It is just a regular life in a regular part of the city.
