The Elegant

If you ever find yourself walking down Dr A K Paul Road in Kolkata, you might happen to see our place at number 136. We have been here in the 700034 area for a good bit now. It is a typical Kolkata street, which means there is always something happening right outside our door. We named the place The Elegant, but you shouldn't let that name make you think we are being too fancy or stuck up. We are just regular people working in a small shop. Inside, it is mostly just us and the items we have put out for sale. We spend a lot of our time dusting the shelves and rearranging things to make the place look decent for anyone who walks in. The neighbors are quite nice, and we often find ourselves sharing a cup of hot tea with the folks from the nearby shops during the quiet hours. It is not a massive store where you are going to get lost. You can see pretty much everything we have as soon as you step inside. We like it that way because it means we can actually talk to everyone who visits us. Sometimes the heavy monsoon rains make things a bit difficult, and we have to worry about the damp getting into the shop, but we always manage to get by. We have grown really fond of this specific spot on the road. It feels like we belong here after all these years. It is just us and the regular customers who know the way.
