Tamal Engineering Works

Down on Feeder Road, you’ll find us at 62/1C. It’s an old building, but it holds up well against the vibration of the machines we use every day. The air inside always has that faint smell of oil and cut metal, which I guess is just part of the job when you work in engineering. We’ve got the heavy equipment set up on the ground floor because it’s way too heavy for anything else. The floors are concrete and stained with grease marks from over the years, which tells you a lot about the work we do here. There’s always a bit of a racket with the hammers and the lathes going, especially when we have a big project to finish. We don't have much of a front office, just a small wooden desk tucked into the corner where the bills are kept under a heavy iron paperweight. The light comes in through the high windows, but it gets pretty dim towards the evening, so we have these bright tubelights everywhere to help us see. Most days we just keep our heads down and get through the list of things that need fixing or making. Sometimes the neighbors from the other shops on Feeder Road pop in for a chat while the machines are cooling down for a bit. It’s a dusty, loud place, but we’re used to the noise and the grit. It’s just how things are for us here.
