Surge Machine Tools

Surge Machine Tools is situated at 124, Sri Aurobindo Sarani, right on the ground floor in Hatibagan. This part of North Kolkata has a lot of character and it’s always loud with the sounds of the street. Our shop is in an old building with high ceilings that help keep it a bit cooler, though we still rely on our old ceiling fans. We sell all kinds of machine tools and hardware. The shelves are packed with heavy metal items and the air has a faint smell of grease. I’ve been working here for many years and I know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to a stranger. We don’t use any fancy inventory software; we just keep track of things in a large ledger book. The tram tracks are right outside, and you can feel the building shake slightly every time one passes by. We get a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. We usually share a few stories and some tea with them before they leave. It’s not a modern showroom with bright lights. It’s a traditional shop where you get what you need and have a bit of a chat. We don't have a mission statement or any of that. We just provide tools to the people who need them and try to keep the shop running smoothly every day.
