Supari Trading Corpn. is right in the heart of Burra Bazar at 25, Amartalla Street. If you’ve ever been to Burra Bazar, you know it’s absolute madness most of the time. There are handcarts, people carrying huge bundles on their heads, and constant shouting. Our shop and office are right in the thick of it. We deal in supari, or betel nuts, and have for a very long time. The smell of the nuts is everywhere here. It’s a family-run kind of thing, passed down through the years. We aren't interested in being fancy. The floor is often dusty from the sacks being moved around, and the furniture has seen better decades. We spend our days bargaining, checking the quality of the nuts, and making sure the bags are weighed correctly. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. You have to know the people you're dealing with. We don't use much technology besides the basics. Most of our deals are done face-to-face or over a quick phone call. It’s hot and loud, and there’s never enough space for all the stock we have. But this is how Burra Bazar works. We show up early, we stay late, and we make sure the supply keeps moving. It’s a hard life in some ways, but it’s what we know. We don't need a website or a marketing plan when everyone in the market knows where we are.
