Down here in Titagarh, at 26/C New Basti, things move at their own pace. We’ve got the rice business set up in a spot that’s easy to find if you know the area, but maybe a bit tucked away for others. It’s an old neighborhood, and the streets can be a bit of a squeeze when the big trucks come through. Sunil Rice is basically just us working with what we have. Inside, you’ll find bags of rice stacked up high, and there’s always that specific smell of grain in the air. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, especially during the summer months in West Bengal. We don’t have any big corporate fancy desks. It’s mostly just stools and wooden tables where we keep our ledgers. We spend most of our time checking the stock and making sure the bags are sealed right. The guys working here have been around for years, so we all know each other's families and what’s going on in the street. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It isn't a high-tech operation, just a regular rice place trying to keep things moving. We deal with the local markets mostly. It's hard work, lifting those heavy sacks all day, but it’s what we do. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready.
