Crawley & Ray (F&E) Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of 7A, Krishna Laha Lane in Kolkata for quite some time. If you know West Bengal, you know these old lanes can be a bit crowded, but this is where we feel at home. Our address is 700012, right in the heart of things. We have a small office here where we handle all our daily business. It’s an old building, nothing like those new glass towers they’re putting up across the city. The walls are thick and it stays a bit cooler inside during the summer heat. We’ve got our desks and our files, and we just get on with the work. Usually, there’s someone here from early morning till late evening. It’s a family-run kind of setup in many ways, even if the name sounds a bit more official than we actually are. We deal with various things throughout the day, answering calls and talking to people who come by the lane looking for us. Kolkata is a busy place, and Krishna Laha Lane is no different. You see the same faces every morning when you walk into work. We don't spend much on advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth seems to work okay for us. It’s a simple life here at 7A. We just try to stay organized and keep the business moving forward one day at a time. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our life and we’ve been at it for years now.
