Sumi Foods is based at 11/6, J.K. Pal Road. It's just a regular building where we handle all our food processing and packing. The kitchen area takes up most of the space because that's where everything happens. We have a few big stoves and stainless steel tables. It always smells like spices or whatever we are cooking that day. Sometimes the smell stays on your clothes long after you leave. We aren't a big brand you see on TV. We’re just a local outfit. My sister and I started this a while back. We hire a few people from the neighborhood to help with the chopping and the packaging. J.K. Pal Road is a bit quiet compared to the main streets, which is nice for us. We get our ingredients from the local market early in the morning. It’s a lot of manual work, measuring things out and sealing the bags. We don't have fancy automation. If a machine breaks, we usually try to fix it ourselves first. Our office is just a tiny room with a computer that sometimes acts up. We keep our records in notebooks mostly. It's a simple business. We just want to make sure the food is clean and tastes like it should. We spend a lot of time cleaning up at the end of every day. That’s just how it is when you work with food. It keeps us on our toes.
