Classic Furniture

Classic Furniture is our small workshop located at D/1 Rk Upainibesh Road in Jadavpur. If you know the Sulekha area, we are pretty easy to find. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a regular place where we spend most of our daylight hours. Inside, there is usually a lot of sawdust on the floor and the smell of cut wood is everywhere. We keep a few basic tools around and some workbenches that have seen better days. It gets quite loud when the machines are running, so we mostly talk in shouts during the afternoon. We don't have a fancy sales team or a big catalog. Most people just walk in and ask if we can make a specific cabinet or fix a chair that's gone wobbly. We use whatever wood is available and try to make things that won't fall apart after a month. Jadavpur is a busy neighborhood, so there is always noise from the street coming through the door. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when the glue is drying or when we just need a break from the noise. It is just a few of us here doing the work. We don't have big ambitions or anything, we just like to stay busy with the orders that come our way from the local folks. It's a simple life and the work is hard on the hands, but it is just what we do.
