Walk into 1B/35 Kustia Road and you'll smell sawdust right away. That is Goswami Furnitures. We have been working with wood for quite some time. It's a small shop but we keep it packed with stuff. There’s always a table or a bed frame being sanded down in the back. My father started this and now we just carry it on. We don't use those big factory machines for everything. A lot of it is just hands and basic tools. People come in from the street looking for something that won't break after a month. We show them the different types of wood we have available. Sometimes the shop is a bit messy because of the wood shavings on the floor. It’s hard to keep it clean when you’re working all day. We enjoy the work though. Making a chair that someone will sit in for twenty years is a good feeling. We don’t do much advertising. People just know where we are on Kustia Road. We have some ready pieces but usually, people want something specific. We talk about what they need and then we get to work. It takes time. You can’t rush the glue or the polish. If you need a stool or a cupboard, just stop by 1B/35 Kustia Road and talk to us. We’re usually there from morning until late evening. We like it that way.
