If you know Strand Road, you know it’s one of the busiest places you could pick for an office. Pallan Export And Import Company is at No. 19. It’s an old area with a lot of history and even more noise. We’re right in the thick of it. The building has been there for years and it’s got that old-school feel to it. We deal with imports and exports, which sounds complicated but mostly involves a lot of waiting on phones and filling out forms. The traffic on Strand Road is something else, you can hear the horns honking all day long from our window. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, but not by much. We’ve got stacks of papers everywhere and the desks are usually a mess of pens and folders. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy lobby. We just need a place to work. Usually, we're arguing about where to get tea or trying to track down a missing shipment. It’s a lot of back and forth. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back on. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s ours. We’ve been at No. 19 for a while now and we’ve gotten used to the chaos of the river nearby and the constant flow of people outside. It's just a bunch of us doing what we know how to do.
