Our facility is located out in Baruipur, in the Natunpara area. It’s a bit of a drive from the center of Kolkata, but it’s where all the work happens. The site is quite large and there is always something going on. You’ll see trucks lined up at the gate early in the morning. Inside, it’s mostly industrial. We have big sheds where the machinery sits. It’s loud and dusty, but that’s just how a factory is. We have a lot of people working here, many from the local villages nearby. The office is just a small part of the whole place. It’s got simple desks and a lot of paperwork. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the day. The heat in West Bengal can be a lot, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the metal roofs. We have a small area where the workers take their breaks. It’s nothing fancy, just a place to sit. The sign at the main entrance is a bit faded now, but everyone in Baruipur knows where Srmb is. We focus on getting the production numbers right. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we all have to pitch in to get it fixed. It’s a busy, working-class environment. We’ve been part of this community for a long time.
