Our place is over at 37 Armenian Street. If you know this part of the city, you know how narrow and crowded the lanes can get. We operate out of an old building that has seen better days, but it serves our purpose just fine. We handle a lot of textiles, mostly in bulk, so there are always rolls of cloth leaning against the walls and stacked in the corners. It isn't a showroom where everything is on display for people to browse. It’s more of a working office and a storehouse combined into one. The stairs are steep and we often have to carry heavy loads up and down. We have a small team here. Most of us have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get the day’s work done. We handle orders for different kinds of fabrics, and the phones ring pretty much all day long. Armenian Street has a lot of history and you can feel it when you walk through the doors. We don't have fancy air conditioning or modern furniture. We just have our ledgers, our phones, and the fabric. Some days are very long, especially when a big shipment is coming in or going out to a client. We don't spend much time thinking about fashion in the way people see it in magazines. For us, it’s about the quality of the thread and making sure the delivery happens when we said it would.
