Sarala Women Welfare Society

We've been operating out of our space on Andul Station Road for a while now. Most people around Howrah know where we are. It’s a busy spot near the station. We spend our days working with women from the local community. It’s mostly just us trying to help out where we can. Sometimes the office gets crowded, but that’s just how things go here. We started small. It’s not a fancy setup. Just some desks and chairs in a room. We handle a lot of paperwork and talk to many people who walk in off the street. Dealing with daily issues is what fills our time. The weather gets hot in West Bengal, so we try to keep the fans going. We aren't doing anything flashy. We just focus on the tasks at hand. People come by when they need something or just to check in. We’ve known some of these families for years. It’s a lot of work, but we stay busy. The road outside is always noisy with the trains and traffic. You get used to it after a bit. We don't have a big team, but we get the jobs done. It's just a regular place doing regular things for the neighborhood. We stay open late sometimes if there's a lot to finish. That’s about it for us here in Howrah. We don't have a website that’s updated much, so people usually just drop in. It's the way we've always done things here.
