S. K. Majumder

You can find me at 2, Church Lane. I’m up on the second floor in Room 201C. Church Lane is a bit of an old-fashioned spot, which I like. The building has those high ceilings and thick walls that keep it a bit cooler in the summer. S. K. Majumder is the name on the door, and it’s basically just me and a helper in here most days. The room is filled with books and papers, mostly stacked on the floor because the shelves are already full. I’ve been in this office for many years now. The desk I use belonged to my father, and it’s got plenty of scratches to prove its age. It’s a quiet place for the most part, though you can hear the church bells sometimes. I don’t have a secretary or a fancy waiting room. If you come by, you just knock and walk in. We might be in the middle of sorting through a big project, so there’s usually stuff everywhere. I make my own tea on a small electric stove in the corner. I don’t believe in having a lot of flash. I just do the work that comes across my desk. People know where I am if they need something done. It’s a small, simple operation and I plan to keep it that way. No need for complicated things when the old ways still work perfectly well for the work I do.
