The office is over in Oxford View on Diamond Harbour Road, specifically in Flat-C/503. It’s a residential building really, so it feels more like a home than some big corporate block. Being on the fifth floor gives us a decent view of the traffic moving along the main road, which is usually quite a mess. Kolkata is always busy like that. We deal with resource development, which mostly means a lot of paperwork and phone calls and sitting around a table talking through different plans. The rooms are a bit tight because of all the files we have to keep, but we make it work. Most of the furniture is just basic stuff we bought years ago. It’s mostly quiet inside unless the windows are open and then you hear everything from the street. We don’t have a lot of visitors, but when someone comes by, we usually have some biscuits and tea ready. It’s a small team here. We spend a lot of time looking at charts and trying to figure out how to help the people who hire us. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we just wait it out or talk. It isn’t a flashy place, just a regular flat turned into a workspace. We’ve been here in the Behala area for a long time and the commute is okay if you know the shortcuts. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation for us and we keep it simple.
