We are tucked away on the first floor over at 48/48 Swiss Park in Kolkata. If you know the area, you know it can get pretty lively with people moving around all day. Our space here isn’t meant for showing off, it’s mostly just where we handle the business of textiles. We’ve got stacks of fabric sitting around and a few desks where the paperwork gets done. The walk up the stairs is part of the daily routine for all of us. It’s an old building so it has its quirks, like the way the door sticks sometimes when it’s humid out. Most of the time, we are just busy sorting through orders or talking to people about what they need. It’s a lot of checking measurements and making sure the colors are right under the fluorescent lights. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Instead, you'll find us surrounded by rolls of cloth and the hum of the city coming through the windows. The neighborhood has changed a bit over the years but we’ve stayed right here. It’s just a practical place for us to work. Sometimes it gets a bit messy when a big shipment arrives, but we clear it out eventually. We just show up, do the work with the fabrics, and try to stay on top of everything that needs doing before we head home. It's a simple setup but it works well for us.
