Ray Das Gupta Chartered Accountants

Our office, Ray Das Gupta Chartered Accountants, is situated at 58 Gandipara Road in Subhasgram East, Kolkata. It is a quiet enough area compared to the city center, which is something we actually appreciate. The building is an older style, typical of this part of Kolkata, and it has a lot of character even if the paint is peeling a bit in the corners. Inside, it is exactly what you would expect from an accounting firm that has been around for a while. There are stacks of paper everywhere, folders tucked into every available shelf, and the smell of old ledgers. We don't use much fancy software if a simple pen and paper will do the trick first. It’s a small team here. We know each other's families and how everyone likes their tea. During tax season, things get a bit chaotic and we stay late, often with the ceiling fans whirring overhead to keep the humidity at bay. We don't put on airs or try to sound more important than we are. People from the neighborhood come to us because they know where we sit and that we will be here tomorrow. It’s a very local way of doing things. We might take a bit longer to reply to an email than a big firm, but that is because we are usually busy talking to someone who walked in off Gandipara Road with a specific question about their filings.
