R. S. Garments

You can find R. S. Garments on the ground floor of 5 Tarachand Dutta Street. It is a very old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always full of people carrying bundles of goods. We have been in this spot for a while, just handling different types of garments day in and day out. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the boxes quite high to make room for everyone to walk. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for people to just pop their heads in and ask a question. We usually open up early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. There is a lot of dust from the road, so we spend a good amount of time cleaning the glass and the counters before the first customer arrives. We don't use any big computers or fancy systems here, just a simple notebook where we write everything down by hand. It feels more natural that way. The lights inside are a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept even in the dark. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we can’t even hear the radio, but that is just part of being on Tarachand Dutta Street. We just focus on the clothes and making sure we have enough stock for the week ahead. It’s a quiet life inside despite the chaos outside. I guess we just like the routine of the shop and talking to the regulars who have lived here for decades.
