You can find us over at 11/1, Shun Sarani, near the old Tiretti Bazar area. We’re tucked away on Peter Lane, right near the telephone exchange. If you’ve been to this part of Kolkata, you know it’s full of history and the smell of good food. Pou Chong Brothers has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. We mostly deal with sauces and food products that people around here have grown up with. The building we’re in is old, with high ceilings and those thick walls you don’t see anymore. It’s often busy with people coming in to pick up boxes or just to chat. We don’t really do fancy marketing or try to act like we’re some new startup. We’re just the same people we’ve always been, making sure the bottles are filled and the orders are ready. The morning market at Tiretti is right there, so things get lively early. We’ve seen the city change a lot from our spot on Peter Lane, but our routine stays pretty much the same. We focus on the flavors and the things we know how to make well. It’s a family-run kind of feel here, even as things have grown. If you walk past, you might hear us arguing about something small or laughing over a cup of tea. It’s just how we work.
