Plazzo Marbles

Our place, Plazzo Marbles, is tucked away on Chetla Road over in Alipore. D-504/1 is the specific door if you’re looking. It’s a bit of a dusty business, as you can imagine with marble and stone. We spend a lot of our time moving heavy slabs around and making sure the cuts are right. It’s loud and there is always white powder on everything, including our shoes. We’ve been at this Alipore location for a good while. The neighbors are mostly used to the sound of the saws by now. It isn't a showroom with bright lights; it's more of a working yard where things actually get done. We talk to contractors and homeowners who are just trying to finish their floors or kitchens. Sometimes we have to explain why a certain piece of stone has more veins or marks than another, because that’s just how natural rock is. We don't have a big sales pitch or anything. We just show what we have in the yard and let people decide for themselves. Some days it’s really busy with trucks coming in and out, and other days it’s just us cleaning up and organizing the stacks. It’s hard work on the back, but it's honest. Alipore is a good area to be in, even if the traffic on Chetla Road gets a bit backed up in the evenings. We just keep plugging away at the daily orders and keep the yard running as best we can.
