Pinaki International

You can find Pinaki International at Mathkol Kalitala in the Rabindranagar area. It’s a quiet corner of the neighborhood where most people know each other. We have a small office and a storage room where we handle different types of local goods, mostly leather items and some handmade textiles. I started this business after working for a big company for many years because I wanted to be my own boss. It’s much harder than I thought it would be, but I enjoy the freedom. We don't have any fancy furniture or a big sign outside. It’s just a simple room with a couple of desks and a lot of cardboard boxes. My nephew helps me with the deliveries and the packing. We use a rickshaw to take our goods to the main shipping point because the lanes here are too narrow for a big truck. In the summer, the office gets very hot and the ceiling fan just hums loudly without doing much. We drink a lot of cold water and keep working. Rabindranagar is a friendly place and sometimes the neighbors stop by just to chat for a bit. We aren't a huge international firm despite the name. We are just a small local team trying to make a living by selling the products we have here. It’s a slow process, but we are slowly building up our regular customers year by year and we like it.
