Our spot for Petron Engineering Construction Ltd in Kolkata is over in Garia, specifically Santinagar. We are at Prabin Kumar Das's place in the Panchpota area. Kolkata is a crowded, busy city and Garia is no different. The humidity can be really tough during the summer months, making the work feel twice as hard. Our office is a simple one, tucked away in a quiet street. We don't have a big reception area or anyone in a suit waiting at the door. It’s usually just us with some tea and a pile of engineering reports. We handle a lot of the local construction coordination from here. It takes a lot of effort to get materials through the narrow streets sometimes. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sitting at the desk checking the latest site updates. Every day brings a new set of problems to solve. Maybe the concrete didn't set right or a worker didn't show up. We just deal with it as it happens. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the flashiest company around. We just want to get the engineering work done properly so we can move on to the next project. The people in the neighborhood are friendly and we have become part of the local scenery. It’s a decent place to work, even if it gets a bit cramped when we have a deadline.
