Our place is on Sir Hariram Goenka Street, right in Burrabazar. If you find the ICICI Bank, you are basically there, just look for the stairs going up to the first floor. Being on the first floor is a bit of a climb for some, but it keeps us away from the direct noise of the street level. We have been here for years. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get it done. There are always piles of goods waiting to be unpacked. We don't really have a big fancy office, just a counter and some shelves that are usually overflowing. The ceiling is high, which helps when it gets humid. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or just sitting around when things are slow. Burrabazar is always chaotic, so we hear the shouting and the carts moving outside all day long. Sometimes the electricity cuts out for a few minutes, so we keep a few emergency lights handy. It’s a working space, not a showroom. We know most of the other shopkeepers in the building. We eat our lunch at the small desk in the back. It isn't anything special to look at, but it’s where we do our work. We mostly deal with regulars who know the way up the stairs. We stay until about seven or eight depending on how much work is left.
