Pabrai Ice Creams Private Limited is located at Flat 9C in the Bally High building on Ballygunge Park Road. We are right in one of the busy parts of Kolkata. Being up on the ninth floor gives us a good view, but we are usually too busy to look out the window. Dealing with ice cream is a lot harder than it sounds. You have to worry about the cold chain all the time. If the power goes out or a freezer acts up, it’s a big problem. We spend a lot of our time coordinating deliveries and checking temperatures. It’s a lot of stress but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We aren't a big corporate machine. We are more like a small team that knows each other well. Our office isn't very polished; it's full of files, sample cups, and random notes. We don't have a fancy dress code. We just come in and do what needs to be done. Ballygunge can be very noisy with all the traffic, and that sound usually fills our office. We don't bother with fancy mission statements. Our focus is just on the ice cream and making sure it gets to where it needs to go without melting. It’s a simple, everyday struggle to keep everything running smoothly. We just work hard, deal with the hiccups as they happen, and try to keep the business going in the city.
