Om Sai General Stores

This is Om Sai General Stores. We are located in the Kaikhali Ghosh Para area. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the address, but everyone around Kaikhali knows where Ghosh Para is. We have been operating out of this small building for a while now. It’s mostly just groceries and the kind of things you realize you’ve run out of at the last minute. We keep jars of biscuits on the counter and bags of rice stacked in the back. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which we like. We don’t have a big neon sign or anything, just the name Om Sai General Stores painted on the front. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in and sits on the sack of lentils. We just shoo it away. It’s just me and my brother running the place most days. We don't use any fancy computer systems to track our inventory. We just look at the shelves and see what is missing. It’s a simple way to work but it has served us well so far. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy things. That is the thing about a local shop in a place like Kaikhali. You get to know the life stories of the people who live nearby. We aren't trying to grow into a chain. We are just happy being the local store for the folks in Ghosh Para. The floor is made of old cement and it has some cracks.
