Northbrook Jute Co. Ltd.

Our office is in Room 204 on the second floor of 6, Brabourne Road. If you’ve ever been to Brabourne Road, you know it’s one of the busiest spots in the city. Northbrook Jute Co. Ltd. has been here for a long time. The building itself is pretty old, with those high ceilings and heavy doors. Inside Room 204, it’s mostly just rows of steel cabinets and desks covered in files. Jute is a traditional business, so we don’t really go for anything modern or flashy. The walls have those old calendars hanging on them, and the floor is a bit uneven in places. We spend most of our time dealing with the paperwork for the mills and talking to suppliers on the phone. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy furniture or a reception desk. People just walk in, find a stool, and start talking business. The noise from the traffic outside never really stops, so we have to talk a bit louder sometimes. We usually have lunch together in the office, bringing boxes from home. It’s a steady kind of work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the orders are processed and the bills are paid. It’s a bit dusty because of the jute samples, but we don’t mind. It’s just the way things are at number 6. We keep the fan running and just get on with our tasks.
