Our firm, N.Jagwani & Co., is located in the Rajendra Chhatra Niwas building on Shambhu Chatterjee Street. The address is 14/1A, right in the heart of Kolkata- 700 007. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history. Our office reflects that. It's a bit cramped with all the paper records we keep, but we know where everything is. Being chartered accountants means we spend a lot of time on tax law and financial statements. It’s dry work for some, but we find it satisfying to get the balance sheets right. We don't have a big staff. It's just a few of us here. We see the same faces year after year. People stop by to drop off their folders and stay for a quick chat about the weather or the local news. We don't use much jargon when we talk to folks. It’s better to just explain things simply. Shambhu Chatterjee Street can get very crowded, especially in the afternoons. Sometimes the noise from the street comes right through the windows. We just keep working through it. We aren't interested in moving to a modern office tower. This place suits us fine. We have our routine, our files, and our tea. It’s a practical way to run a business. If you need us, we’re in the Niwas building. Just look for the sign near the entrance.
