Nila Ice Cream

Down here in Chandpur, things feel a bit different than the busier parts of Rajarhat. We are out in the 24 Parganas North district, where it is a little quieter, though that is changing fast with all the new construction happening nearby. Our setup is pretty basic, just a local spot where we focus on keeping everything frozen and ready for the shops in the village. I grew up around here, so I know most of the people who walk past our gate every morning. It is a family-run kind of thing, so you might see my cousins or my dad helping out with the loading when the truck arrives. We do not have a big marketing team or anyone like that. We just write down what we need on a notepad and try to stay organized. Sometimes the heavy rain in West Bengal makes things difficult, especially when the roads get muddy around Chandpur, but we find a way to get the deliveries through. It is mostly about routine for us. Wake up, check the stock, talk to the drivers, and make sure the electricity bill is paid on time. We have had this place for years and have not felt the need to change much. It is not a high-tech operation, just some good freezers and a lot of hard work. People know us as the local ice cream spot, and that is fine by me. It is a decent way to live.
