We are situated on the 2nd floor at 6 Colootola Lane. You have to walk up the stairs, which can be a bit tiring in the heat, but it’s a good way to start the day. The area around here is very busy with all sorts of businesses, so there’s always a lot of noise and shouting coming up from the street. Once you get inside our office, though, it’s all about the accounting. We’ve got desks pushed together to make more room for all the binders and folders we use. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. We’ve been handling accounts here for a long time, so we know the drill. There’s no fancy lighting or designer furniture; it’s just a place to sit and work through the numbers. We use a lot of ink and a lot of paper. Most of our day is spent looking at screens or checking through hand-written notes from clients. We take a break in the middle of the day for a quick meal, usually something local from one of the stalls nearby. It’s not a glamorous profession, and our office reflects that—it’s just a practical, hardworking space in the middle of Kolkata 700073. We do our best to stay on top of all the filings and keep our clients’ books in order.
